About Chaanan
- Parent Advocacy Hub: Chaanan serves as a vital platform for parents of Persons with Intellectual Development Disability (PwIDD), advocating for their rights and empowerment while amplifying their voices within society.
- Empowerment Center for Families: It offers comprehensive support services and resources to families, equipping them with the tools and guidance needed to navigate challenges and foster the growth and well-being of their loved ones with PwIDD.
- Inclusive Community Hub: Chaanan cultivates an inclusive community where families of individuals with disabilities come together, share experiences, and collaborate to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.
Our Programs
- Creative Expression: Children at Chaanan participate in diverse artistic activities such as diya painting, decorating of flower pots, trays, and greeting cards where they showcase their creativity and individuality through vibrant artwork.
- Skill Development: These activities, including learning dance and vocational trips, not only foster fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination but also provide opportunities for personal growth and confidence building.
- Community Engagement: Children actively participate in exhibitions, representing Chaanan’s inclusive ethos and showcasing their talents to the wider community, thus promoting awareness and acceptance of individuals with disabilities.

Chaanan is a parent-driven association dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for the rights of Persons with Intellectual Development Disability (PwIDD). Founded in 1995 by S. Amarjit Singh Anand, our mission revolves around the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us.” With unwavering dedication and a clear focus, we tirelessly support families and individuals with disabilities, striving to enrich their lives and foster inclusivity in society.
